Custom Avatars & VRoid Integration

The Custom Avatars mod breaks the limitations of the vanilla character creator, allowing players to import high-fidelity VRoid models and custom .unitypackage avatars into 7 Days to Die. From anime-style characters to realistic military skins, the possibilities are endless.

True Digital Identity

Standard 7D2D characters are often criticized for their 'clunky' appearance. Custom Avatars replaces the entire player mesh with a model of your choosing, complete with full bone-mapping for animations.

  • Full Animation Support: Your custom avatar will correctly hold weapons, drive vehicles, and perform emotes.
  • Expressive Faces: If your model supports blend-shapes, you'll see mouth movements and eye blinks.
  • VRoid Support: Seamlessly import .vrm files used by VTubers and social VR users.

Multiplayer & Server Sync

For other players to see your avatar, they must also have the mod and the specific avatar files (or the server must be configured for avatar distribution). This mod is a favorite for roleplay (RP) servers and community streamers.

Performance Tip: Be mindful of your model's polygon count. Importing a 500,000 poly avatar can cause significant FPS drops for you and nearby players. Aim for under 50,000 for the best balance.
